If this sounds like a dream then, you’ll want to read more.
In this blog post, I’ll detail the teeth cleaning routine you’ll want to add to your morning routine, the number 1 mistake people make when brushing their teeth, and things you need to know about teeth cleaning.
7- steps to take in the morning for your teeth cleaning routine
Step 1: Rinse your mouth with water. It’s best to use lukewarm or cold water when rinsing your mouth, but never hot as it can scald your teeth. Use a cup to save water. After, rinse a soft bristle toothbrush, to remove left food particles and debris from the last night.
You’ll want to use a soft bristle brush because harsh brushes damage our gums and enamel. The goal is to gently remove the bacteria in your teeth.
Step 2: Put about the size of a pea of fluoride toothpaste on a soft bristle or electric toothbrush.
Step 3: Brush the outer surface of your teeth. Brush gently, in circular motions and at a 45-degree angle, aiming towards the gums.
Step 4: Then start brushing the inner layer of your teeth still at a 45–degree angle. Make sure you touch all the angles so you don’t miss any debris.
Step 5: After brushing all corners and angles of your teeth, move over to your tongue. Gently brush your tongue and use a tongue scrapper to remove odour-causing bacteria.
Step 6: After 2 minutes rinse your mouth and toothbrush with water to remove all food debris and toothpaste.
Step 7: this is a personal step I like to add to my routine. After rinsing your mouth, brush your teeth again, only this time the size of the toothpaste is slightly smaller than a pea size and most importantly you are not rinsing your mouth with water. You just spitting out the excess toothpaste. What I love about this step is that you are still getting the benefits of the fluoride toothpaste which is great for our teeth just with a cleaner mouth, without excess food debris still stuck.
The number 1 common mistake we make when brushing our teeth
The number 1 common mistake we make during our teeth cleaning routine is rinsing our mouth with water after brushing. it is recommended that we do not rinse after brushing because it washes away the goodness our teeth need from the fluoride toothpaste.
I find it disgusting that we are recommended to do this because how? I still have food debris and bacteria in my mouth how can I not rinse it out?
I created an extra step in your teeth cleaning routine that is the solution to this.
Things to know about brushing our teeth
We know we need to brush our teeth twice a day – morning and night but do you know why? During the day, food decays your teeth, so it’s important to brush at night. After a full night’s rest, bacteria have been growing in your mouth/teeth, so it’s a good idea to remove it.
Floss your teeth before brushing them. This is because flossing will remove food and plaque in between your teeth before brushing them – that way when you brush, your teeth are clean throughout. Doing this step also allows the fluoride in your toothpaste to remain in your mouth, and get into the tightest corners of your teeth where food was trapped. Rinse your mouth after you have flossed.
- Brush for 2 minutes
- Replace your toothbrush every 3 months
- Healthy teeth and gums make it easy for you to eat well and enjoy good food.
- Teeth are covered in a hard layer called enamel. Bacteria produce acid that harms the enamel which can cause cavities.
- Plaque can lead to cavities, tooth decay, and even periodontal disease
