So you thinking of having breakfast in bed for Valentine’s Day, but you don’t know what to make? Get inspired by these breakfast options that your partner will love. I will say that these breakfast ideas aren’t over the top. I wanted to include options that are simple, and easy to make. The ingredients are probably in your fridge and cupboard already. You may add to this list, make it your own, or have fun with it.
- English Breakfast
- Avocado toast
- Pancakes
- Omelette
- Breakfast Sandwich
- Mixed Berry Chia pudding
- Breakfast Casserole
- Cinnamon Rolls
- French Toast
1. Full English Breakfast
This is a classic breakfast idea not only loved by the English but around the world as well ( I know where I come from, South Africa we love an English breakfast) It’s also pretty easy to prepare, tasty and filling.
For this breakfast option, you’ll need:
- Eggs
- Bacon
- Baked beans
- Sausages
- Tomatoes (thin slices)
- Half of an avocado
- 2 slices of toasted bread
You can customize by removing or adding what your partner likes or dislikes, but this would be the basics of a full English breakfast.
2. Avocado Toast
Another classic breakfast option. I know this breakfast option can be boring for others, but I just think there are so many things you can do with it in terms of toppings. You can go with sweet toppings like a drizzle of honey, or you can do savory. Play with it, but don’t do too much. The essence of an avocado toast is the simplicity of it.
3. Pancakes
Who doesn’t love pancakes? There are so many options you can choose from here. You can go healthy option, with some banana oats pancakes. Maybe your partner has a sweet tooth and doesn’t mind going sweeter then you can try the caramel pecan pancakes. Maybe stick to the classical traditional side than prepare blueberry pancakes. It depends on which lane you will choose.
4. Omelette
Turn a simple, predictable, boring sunny-side-up option into a delicious, colorful omelette breakfast. Include fresh greens, and veggies, and add some cheese. Serve with a few slices of toast or a side option like roasted sweet potatoes, a leafy green salad or even a small dish of chia seed pudding.
5. Breakfast Sandwich
This dish was inspired by my love for a good sandwich as a midday snack or lunch option. I had to make a breakfast edition. How to make one:
- Toast 2 slices of bread
- Mash half or full avocado depending on how much avocado you’d like on your sandwich
- Spread the avocado on the toast like how you’d spread butter
- Rinse out a handful of baby spinach and put it on top of your avocado toast. The baby spinach is a substitute of lettuce
- Slice a cucumber into thin slices. Only add a few on the toast
- Slice a tomato into thin slices and add to the toast
- Add bacon
- Add egg. At this point, you building up the sandwich
- Add cheese of your option
- Close the sandwich with the other slice of toast.
Cut and enjoy. This breakfast option is very filling, delicious and fun to make.
6. Mixed Berry Chia Pudding
I recently did a mixed berry chia pudding and it was delicious. I would recommend to make for your partner.
What you’ll need:
- 2 cups of frozen mixed berries
- 2 cups of milk of your choice
- ¾ cups of chia seeds
- 2 cups of yoghurt
- Drizzle of honey
- Topping: the fruit of your choice
Once you have your ingredients prepared, blend the berries, milk and drizzle of honey. Pour the mixture into a bowl. Add the chia seeds and mix. Once the chia seeds are added, add the yoghurt. Refrigerate overnight. In the morning, pour the chia seed pudding into a beautiful serving bowl then top with your favorite fruit like bananas, or berries.
Not only is this pudding delicious, creamy and nutritious, but it has a beautiful shade of pink which adds a nice touch for Valentine’s Day.
7. Waffles
Super easy to make and very tasty. This is a perfect breakfast option that’s low maintenance and quick. If you don’t have a waffle maker, then this would be a great way to sneak in that surprise gift.
8. Breakfast Casserole
One-pot dishes have been taking over the internet. People love them. Understandably so because of the less clean up. It’s great we have the same option but for breakfast meals, which is breakfast casseroles. They are super tasty and a great way to sneak in healthy, nutritious veggies in a breakfast meal. What I also love about this breakfast option is that you can make it, and store it in the fridge, so you have breakfast already made for the week ahead of time. This is good if you are in a rush. All you have to do is heat the casserole and serve it to your partner in bed. You can also include side dishes such as a fruit salad, a muffin or a croissant.
8. Fresh Homemade Cinnamon Rolls
Okay, with this one, you’ll need time by your side because you will need to wait for the dough to rise, but I promise you it will be all worth it. Your partner will appreciate the fact that you made them from scratch. They also smell good, so this is going to be a nice way to wake your partner up, with a smell of fresh homemade cinnamon rolls straight from the oven.
9. French Toast
Whip up this quick and easy breakfast idea. Serve with fresh berries and drizzle with syrup.
Breakfast In Bed: Morning Drinks
Next up, is to plan what to serve to drink. You could always serve the normal morning drinks like coffee, tea, orange juice or lemon water. If that’s what your partner prefers, then go ahead. If you are willing to switch things up this Valentine’s Day, make one of these morning drinks with breakfast in bed. It’s a good idea to serve a morning drink because, in the morning we wake up usually dehydrated from the overnight sleep. It’s a great idea to hydrate in the morning.
1. Water
I always advocate that our first-morning drink should be a glass of water. We need to hydrate our bodies. I went into detail on the importance of drinking water first thing in the morning here. A glass of water should be served alongside the morning drink of choice. The glass of water is taking care of business first. The fun morning drink is letting the fun begin.
2. Coconut Cucumber Cooler
Instead of just coconut water ( even though that still sounds refreshing), switch it up by making coconut cucumber cooler.
You will need:
4 cups of coconut water
2 cucumbers sliced very thinly
1/2 cup of lime juice
3/4 cup of sugar (optional)
3/4 cup of chopped mint leaves
All you need to do is blend all the ingredients. Pour in a big jug and chill in the fridge overnight. If time is not by your side, chill for about 1 or 2 hours. When serving to your partner, garnish with cucumber slices and mint leaves for a beautiful presentation.
3. Spicy Watermelon Mint Agua Fresca
Add to the fun by making this delicious mocktail. It has this beautiful pink, reddish shade, which should be fun for Valentine’s Day. I saw this recipe on Town and Country Mag and thought I needed to share. Super easy to make, and the ingredients aren’t complicated at all. I’m sure they are in your kitchen right about now.
4. Aloe Vera Juice
According to Healthline, aloe vera juice is rich in polyphenols, which are antioxidants. It makes for a great morning drink. Served chilled, it’s also refreshing and tasty with the aloe vera pulps in the juice.
5. Turmeric Ginger Tea
This is a super healthy morning drink option. Turmeric and ginger are superfoods, meaning there are many benefits we gain when we consume. They together could be classified as a super morning drink. Anti-inflammatory, this tea helps with digestion, which is great in the morning. It also makes your skin glow and look good. Mix it with black pepper, and honey for extra goodness and taste.

First up, if you need to, prepare the night before. If there are ingredients that need to be brought, breakfast meals that need to be prepared the day before because they need to chill overnight, well use this time to do so. Second, get up super early to prepare. Depending on what time your partner wakes up in the morning, wake up an hour or two before them so you can give yourself time to prepare. Make sure you stay quiet so you don’t wake them up. Third, the morning drink first, so it has enough time to chill in the fridge while you make breakfast. Fourth, make breakfast – use the options above. Lastly, create your presentation on the tray. Put on the breakfast, drink next to it, cutlery, napkin, flowers, then gift.
